Bratislava will open another re-use centre, the popular KOLO is coming to Karlova Ves
21. 02. 2024

Bratislava, 21 February 2024 – The city and OLO are opening another KOLO re-use centre on Juriga Square in Karlova Ves. It will serve as a collection point from 22 February 2024. In the spring period it will become a permanent and fully functional re-use centre, just like the one residents have become used to from their beloved and well-established KOLO in Ružinov at 13 Pestovateľská Street. The KOLO in Karlova Ves will be smaller, so will not accept furniture, but all its other functions will remain unchanged.
The city and the Waste Removal and Disposal company (OLO) are coming closer to the residents of Karlova Ves and its surrounding districts. In spring 2024, a new location of the popular KOLO - Bratislava Re-use Centre will be opened. The KOLO in Ružinov at 13 Pestovateľska Street (OC Korzo) will be followed by the KOLO in Karlova Ves at Juriga Square (OD Kotva).
"Bratislava's KOLO is a fantastic project that combines both ecological and human elements. Its popularity is demonstrated by the 110,000 visits to date and the 210 tonnes of items that have been given a second chance by the people of Bratislava via KOLO in Ružinov. I am delighted that another KOLO is being developed, which we can offer to the residents of Karlova Ves and its surrounding districts. I believe that this place will become a vibrant community centre. And now I’m looking forward to the continuation of this project and the next new KOLO that we are going to open in Bratislava next year," says Mayor Vallo.
**The KOLO in Karlova Ves will combine environmental, social, educational and community aspects **
The concept of KOLO, Bratislava Re-use centre, is based on waste-prevention. "By collecting items at KOLO in Ružinov at 13 Pestovateľská Street, we not only avoid potential waste, but also support organisations that work with people in need. So far, we have provided eight tonnes of second-hand material aid. We are delighted that a strong community of various organisations and individuals with a positive impact on society has formed around our KOLO in Ružinov. The KOLO in Karlova Ves has such a diverse and strong potential also, even though it will be smaller in size," adds Martina Čechová, OLO’s Circular Economy Manager.
The KOLO in Karlova Ves will serve as a collection point from 22 February; the re-use centre will be fully open in the spring
The KOLO in Karlova Ves will be open to residents from 22 February 2024 for the collection of items they no longer need. The collection point will be open on three days a week - on Thursdays and Fridays from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The permanent operation of KOLO in Karlova Ves is being actively developed and is expected to open in Spring 2024. Information on the opening will be updated by the city and OLO.
