    Bratislava’s most modern depot – Krasňany – is again dispatching trams and electric buses after reconstruction

    Bratislava, 7. August 2025 – Complete replacement of the tracks, extension of the depot halls and an ecological approach in every step of the reconstruction: the Krasňany Depot has become a 21st century facility adapted to modern trams and the needs of today’s Bratislava thanks to a comprehensive modernisation with the support of EU funds. On Sunday, 27 July, the Bratislava Transport Company (DPB) symbolically dispatched the first vehicles from it along the extended tram line to Petržalka.

    OLO and the capital city opened a new collection yard in Dúbravka

    Bratislava, 1 August 2025 – Starting today, Bratislava residents have a new collection yard available in the city borough of Bratislava-Dúbravka. Based on the cooperation of OLO and the Capital City, the Pod brehmi collection yard is expanding the location where it enables residents of the western part of Bratislava in particular to hand over more than 1,500 tonnes of waste per year free of charge and in an environmentally friendly manner. It also provides a new option for handing over items for reuse for KOLO.

    Start of the Petržalka tram

    Bratislava, 27 July 2025 – An important day for Bratislava’s largest transport project. Today a tram is now operating on the new tram line leading through the Petržalka, the largest housing estate in Slovakia. Petržalka as well as the whole of Bratislava have been waiting for such a supporting transport system for decades, and from today, the people of Petržalka have not only a faster, but a safer and better connection to the city centre. In addition to this line they are also gaining completely new high-quality public spaces, new roads and pavements and 6 kilometres of new separated cycling paths, which together fundamentally improve the quality of life, housing and overall transport for everyone who travels daily to other parts of the city for work, school or leisure.

    The connection between Bratislava’s Nivy bus station and the historic centre has undergone major improvements

    Bratislava, 17 July 2025 – The capital city presented the results of the “Safer Dunajská and Mlynské nivy” project. In the span of just a few months, major modifications were made that resolved several issues in the well-known and busy Staré Mesto (Old Town) area. As a result, the situation has fundamentally improved for everyone – pedestrians and cyclists, but also motorists and particularly for residents of the zone.

    Bratislava defines rules for the placement and appearance of parcel lockers

    Bratislava, 4 July 2025 – The number of parcel lockers has been increasing on the streets of Bratislava in recent years, but not always in suitable places. In some places, they create unnecessary spatial barriers, thus worsening visibility or contributing to visual smog. Therefore, the Capital City Bratislava and the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava have prepared rules for their use, called The Principles and Standards of Parcel lockers.

    A Network of Centres for Refugees and Foreigners – Safe Point – has been established in seven Slovak towns and cities

    Bratislava, 24 June 2025 – The Union of Slovak Towns and Cities (ÚMS) today officially announced the establishment of the Network of Centres for Refugees and Foreigners – Safe Point – in seven Slovak towns and cities. The existing centres are places of support and integration for refugees and people with foreign origin in Slovakia. The main objective of the newly established “Safe Point” Centres Network is to help these centres strengthen mutual cooperation, raise standards and coordinate more effectively. At the same time, the ÚMS draws attention to the necessity to continue with sustainable state funding of the support centres, otherwise they risk not being able to pursue their mission and help those in need.
