MARIANUM starts the Fountain Season

Marianum – the Funeral Service of the City of Bratislava – is pleased to announce the launch of seasonal fountain operations in various locations throughout the city. Starting on 11 April 2025, the popular water fountains that enrich public spaces and provide citizens and visitors with pleasant refreshment during the spring and warm summer months will be gradually available again.

Among the first that will open the fountain season in Bratislava this Friday will be the exceedingly popular Družba fountain on Námestie slobody.

On that same day, the Maximilian (Roland) fountain on Hlavné námestie, Ganymede’s fountain and the Girl with a Deer fountain on Hviezdoslavovo námestie, the Woman with a Vase fountain on Františkánske námestie, the Fountain with the Figure of a Lion on Námestie Nežnej revolúcie will be opened, and others will be gradually started over the coming few days.

“The fountains are an inseparable part of city life; they not only decorate our public spaces but also create a pleasant atmosphere and offer relaxation for everyone,” said Robert Kováč, director of the MARIANUM organisation. "We’re looking forward to bringing the joy of this unique experience to the city’s residents and visitors once again,” he added.

The fountains are located in all parts of Bratislava and are much sought out by the public. After the winter regime, they are technologically prepared for the season in order to ensure trouble-free operation throughout the season. Modern technologies are used to control the most popular Druzhba fountain on Námestie slobody, making its operation efficient and environmentally friendly.

Bratislava and the MARIANUM organisation invite all residents, visitors and families to take advantage of this opportunity to spend some pleasant time around the fountains, which will be not only places of refreshment, but also centres of social life during the coming months. MARIANUM – The Funeral Service of the City of Bratislava – has been a municipal contributory organisation since 1991. This organisation, which has over 160 employees, manages, maintains and operates 18 cemeteries, the Bratislava Crematorium and two war cemeteries and also manages 64 monuments and memorials in the city. It ensures the operation of the city’s water features – 38 fountains, 13 drinking fountains, 3 wells, 1 mist fountain and 8 sprinklers – as well as the castle hill, city walls and Svoradova Park. MARIANUM – The Funeral Service of the City of Bratislava – also provides so-called additional activities, such as funeral services, transportation of the deceased at home and abroad, the production and sale of wreaths and floral products, and the sale of sacred objects. It also keeps digital records of grave, urn and crypt sites, including graphic displays of burial sites.
