Bratislava Integrated Transport (Bratislavská integrovaná doprava a.s). was established on 30 June 2005 with the aim of integrating transport services in the Bratislava region. As stated in its articles of association, 65% of the company is owned by the Bratislava Self-Governing Region and 35% is owned by the city of Bratislava. In 2009 the company changed from being a limited liability company to a joint-stock company. Its share capital amounts to 33,195€.

The company performs tasks and activities related to the implementation of an integrated transport project based on its contractual relationships with its transport clients – the city of Bratislava; the Bratislava Self-Governing Region; and the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic – and with key providers in the region such as Bratislava Transport Company (Dopravný podnik Bratislava), Slovak Lines and Slovak Rail (Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko). Other transport companies will be able to join the project as needed.

Since the launch of integrated transport, Bratislava Integrated Transport has been in charge of coordinating transport services in order to maintain them.

Bratislava Integrated Transport cooperates closely with public transport integrators from the Czech Republic. Since 2006 it has been a member of the Czech Association of Public Transport Authorities (ČAOVD). Its closest relationships are with Kordis JMK, which manages the integrated transport system in the South Moravian Region, and with Koordinátor ODIS s.r.o., which manages the integrated transport system in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

In the near future, the company intends to develop relationships within the framework of cross-border cooperation with neighbouring Danube regions, especially the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region in Austria within the Centrope project.
