Open Data
Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, has long been aware of the importance and constantly increasing value of data. Information obtained from data processing and analysis supports strategic planning and decision-making. The data make it possible to understand the functioning of various phenomena, to identify problems and to respond more specifically to the needs of the population in order to improve their quality of life.
In connection with this, the municipality of the capital city is launching a new Bratislava data portal ↗︎, which was created by the internal capacities of the Data Department in cooperation with other departments and employees of the city. Making information and data available through the data portal supports the policy of open governance and increases the transparency of the city. The new Bratislava data portal will gradually replace the original portals Open Data Bratislava and Geoportal Bratislava. The motivation for the development of the new portal was the harmonization of the technologies used across the organization, the unification of the visuals of digital services and higher long-term sustainability in terms of content and technology. For these reasons, the Data Department decided to innovate and change the open data provision platform. After considering several options, the new ArcGIS Hub platform was chosen, which meets most of the criteria for modern provision of open data.
Bratislava's new data portal provides visitors with higher quality open data and a better user experience. The portal offers open data to a uniform standard and brings more attractive data visualization through interactive graphs, live "dashboards" and more refined map applications. The portal represents a "living organism," which responds to new conditions and needs in a certain time and space. The goal of the city/Department of Data is its continuous development in terms of form, content and functionality.
We look forward to your visit and feedback to the new data portal.
