Street Art Activities
Would you like to present some street art on roads and in public spaces managed by the city, without it being classified as an event according to special regulations?
In that case, all you have to do is to apply for registration.
What is Street Art?
It is an artistic expression or activity by an individual or group in the visual, dance, musical or performing arts, or spoken word, in which performers showcase their talents, their own creations or their hobbies in a public space. They do not charge an admission fee (a voluntary contribution is not considered to be an admission fee) and they do not endanger or violate public order.
- Registration is issued for a maximum period of one year in advance; the activity may not exceed a period of three months.
- An activity may be permitted and registered if it complies with the above rules and is not in conflict with the interests of the city or city district and public order.
- The written confirmation of registration should include a specified possible time and a precise definition of the location.
Where and when can you present Street Art?
Street art may be performed in accordance with the rules in the following public spaces - roads managed by the city:
- Main Square,
- SNP Square,
- Zupné Square,
- Hurbanovo Square,
- Liberty Square.
It is essential not to perform activity under the windows and entrances of residential, commercial, administrative buildings, or in front of the facades of important historical, cultural, religious buildings.
Activities may be presented in the following period:
- May to October:
- Monday to Thursday from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
- Friday to Sunday from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm
- November to April:
- Monday to Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Friday to Sunday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
No more than one hour of music production may be registered at any one location during the day for any one performer. After this time, the performer must choose another location for the activities in accordance with the registration. No more than one musical activity may be registered in a given public place at any one time, but no more than one at a time.
Activities involving open fires and drumming (percussion, African drums, etc.) are not permitted in the areas administered by the city.
If a permitted event is to be held in the public areas in question, such an event shall take precedence over the activity. The performer shall have the right to conduct the registered activity on other roadways listed on the registration at the time of the event, within the time originally registered.
What are the other mandatory conditions?
- The location and activities specified in the registration must be complied with.
- Music activities must be performed solely with acoustic instruments; the use of sound equipment, music reproduced by technical equipment such as radio, CD player, tape recorder is not permitted..
- The registered location shall not be occupied by a marquee, stand, stage or other structure of a temporary nature.
- Pedestrians may not be restricted.
- Maintain public order and cleanliness; do not consume alcoholic beverages.
- Performers under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
- The activity must not interfere with the personal or other rights of citizens.
- It is forbidden to insult religion, social status, incite violence or hatred against a group or an individual, promote fascism, racism and extremism.
- Performers are obliged to comply with the provisions of the Road Act.
- If equipment or furniture is installed, it is necessary to apply for a special use of the road; the registration of free street activity is not sufficient in this case.
