City School Board

Currently, the Municipal School Board of Bratislava is not established.

Therefore, the city districts, as applicants for the registration of a school or school facility in the network of schools and school facilities, do not submit the recommendation of the Municipal School Board of Bratislava to the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.

It is an active and advisory self-governing body, which expresses and promotes the public interests and interests of pupils, parents, teaching staff and other employees of schools and school facilities in the area of learning and education.

It performs the function of public regulator, which assesses and comments on the activities of schools and school facilities, the activities of local state administration bodies and municipal authorities in issues regarding schools.

Who formed the City School Board?

Until the 2019, the Municipal School Board of Bratislava was appointed from the representatives of primary schools, primary art schools, nurseries and school facilities and from the representatives of ecclesial and private primary schools, nurseries, primary art schools and school facilities.

What the Board expresses opinions on?

  • the activities of founders of primary schools, primary art schools and school facilities in the area of education;
  • the concept of the development of schools and school facilities;
  • a breakdown of the funds provided to schools and school facilities from the state budget;
  • material and technical conditions for the provision of activities of schools and school facilities;
  • the staffing, material and social conditions of employees of schools and school facilities;
  • the municipality's requirements for improving the quality of care and educational services provided in schools or school facilities and how the increased costs connected with the above are going to be met;
  • a report on the results of the educational process in schools;
  • performs the function of the school board according to the Act for schools and school facilities of which the municipality is the founder, unless the relevant school board is established;

What to submit to the Board for consideration?

The municipality – the capital city of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, as well as its individual city districts – in matters of learning and education in schools and school facilities of which they are founders, submit to the Board for consideration the following:

  • information about provision of teaching and administrative as well as material provision of educational process of schools and school facilities;
  • a draft breakdown of funding for schools and school facilities allocated to regional school authorities;
  • a report on the results of the management of schools and school facilities;
  • a report on educational activities, its results and conditions of schools and school facilities;
  • the concept of investment development of schools and school facilities;
  • proposals for the establishment or abolition of schools and school facilities;
  • proposals for establishing classes with extended teaching of a subject or group of subjects;
  • proposals for establishing classes for children and pupils with special educational needs or children and pupils with exceptional aptitude and talent.

Further, the Municipal School Board of Bratislava expresses its opinion within the scope of the founding competence of the capital city of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, the city districts and non-state and church founders of primary schools, nurseries, primary art schools and school facilities.
