The implementation of the city's climate plan is coordinated by the Climate Office, which was established for this purpose within the Department of Urban Strategies and Analyses. The Department of Urban Strategies and Analyses is part of the Mayor's Office and its task is to support cross-departmental strategic management, strengthening results-oriented decision-making on public policies, regulations, investments and city operations.

Tasks and Responsibilities of the Climate Office:

• management, implementation and monitoring of the implementation of the climate plan • securing internal cooperation between departments of the municipality, city enterprises and organizations, as well as city districts in order to create effective coalitions to meet the goals of the climate plan • strengthening cooperation with the external environment (private sector, non-profit sector, academia) and connecting relevant actors • initiation and implementation of specific pilot projects of the climate plan • raising awareness of climate change topics within the municipality and city organizations and externally towards citizens, communities or the private sector • acting as the "first point of contact" for employees, political representation, local and international partners of the city on climate policies and projects of Bratislava

At the political level, the responsibility for managing and supporting the climate plan has been taken over by the Deputy Mayor for the Environment and Climate Change, Jakub Mrva. A report on the implementation of the climate plan will be submitted to the Bratislava City Council and the Covenant of Mayors at least once every two years.

Deputy Mayor for the Environment, Climate Change and Education, member of the Bratislava City Council, and chairman of the civic association Iniciatíva Naše Karpaty (Our Carpathians Initiative), which is dedicated to the protection of nature and landscape, forest protection, and the support of recreation and sports in accordance with nature protection. He is the co-author of the Concept for the Development of Bratislava City Forests, Zoning of City Forests, and the Agreement between the Capital City and the Forests of the Slovak Republic on the Reduction of Timber Harvesting

Who are the members of the Climate Office?

Soňa Andrášová Soňa has been working at the Bratislava Municipality since 2020. She is a specialist in the preparation and management of projects and EU funding. At the municipality, she first helped with the setting up of the current programming period and the preparation of applications for funding from international schemes. Together with her colleagues, she has long advocated for the strengthening of the climate agenda in the city and the establishment of a climate team. Previously, she worked in various positions at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for almost ten years, where she was involved in the agenda of social integration of foreigners.

Marián Zachar Marián came to the municipality from the real estate sector, where he led the creation of HB Reavis group's Nez Zero Carbon strategy. Before working in the climate field in the private sector, he co-founded two educational organizations, LEAF and the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (DofE). He led DofE for almost 8 years as director and since its creation it has become one of the largest DofE offices in the world. He also worked in the public sector between 2010 and 2012, implementing an initiative for greater transparency at the Ministry of Education. He studied international relations at Charles University in Prague and has completed various educational programs focused on team leadership at the University of California, Berkeley and INSEAD in France.
