The City Streetwork Team

Who are we and what do we do?

We are a team of experts, who want to help citizens at risk “in the field” (on the streets). We focus on counselling in areas, where it is needed but the access is limited.

The City Streetwork Team launched its activities during the pandemic in 2020 and has grown to the current staff of 10 people.

From the organisational perspective within the City Hall of the capital of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, we are an office of the social affairs section.

We regularly deal with situations covering:

Homeless People and Public Space

  • We help resolve calls from our citizens regarding homeless people, in particular, their stay on city premises.
  • We help the homeless by counselling and informing them, as well as by mediating contacts with third-sector organisations which may be able to help them further.

Youth at Risk in Nightlife Environment

  • On Friday and Saturday nights, we provide counselling to young people on prevention and elimination of risk. We try to listen to the young people and get involved in solutions of their issues.
  • You can find more information about our youth-related activities on Instagram ↗︎.

Mobile Social Work in Bratislava’s Pentagon Area

  • We help people in a difficult situation in this area by offering social counselling in the areas of housing, employment, and finances, or mediating contacts to other forms of help.
  • We deal with local issues by prevention of social exclusion and support of sustainable changes.

Resolving Current Crises

  • For example, we help the homeless during the pandemic or in winter.

Contact

We share offices with the Section of Social Affairs at Lazaretská St. 12. However, we are likely to be out in the field.
