We’re improving parking in Bratislava

Bratislava, 29 October 2025 – With the growing number of automobiles in Bratislava, the demand for parking spaces is naturally increasing. The capital city is trying to improve the availability of parking through the citywide PAAS system but also by establishing Park and Ride car parks and, most recently, by building multi-storey car parks. Today the first such multi-storey car park built by the municipality was opened in Bratislava’s Karlova Ves district.
The capital city has several projects for multi-storey car parks in progress in locations that have been dealing with a lack of parking spaces for a long time. The Dlhé diely area of Bratislava’s Karlova Ves district is clearly one such location. Therefore, this locality was naturally targeted when selecting an appropriate location where the city could embark on the construction of a new two-storey car park.
The new multi-storey car park was built on the site of the original car park, meaning the number of original parking spaces was doubled without taking up new space or reducing the greenery.
Drivers have 34 parking spaces on the open upper floor, where they can park without restrictions, and another 31 parking spaces on the covered lower floor, which they can use after arranging a free parking card. An additional 7 parking spaces were created in front of the car park.
Aside from the multi-storey car park itself, the capital city also invested in new public lighting, greenery and a modern camera system. The entire building is so equipped, and not only the building but also its surroundings are monitored.
Said the mayor of the capital, Matúš Vallo:
“I want to thank the residents of the surrounding buildings for their patience during the construction. Thanks also go, of course to the Karlova Ves district, in cooperation with which we built the multi-storey car park. I believe that the new parking capacities will help to improving parking in this location."
The capital city is also continuing to prepare other such car park projects that are at various stages of completion. These include residential multi-storey car parks on Saratovská ulica in Dúbravka (where 196 parking spaces are to be created), on Wolkrova ulica (141 parking spaces) and Topoľčianska ulica (125 parking spaces) in Petržalka as well as parking structures that will serve as Park and Rides at the Zoo (a car park with 126 parking spaces including 4 for buses, and a multi-storey car park with 418 parking spaces), at Zlaté piesky (100 parking spaces) and at the Janíkov dvor location (2 x 99 parking spaces).
