Bratislava has designed a complete network of city's main cycling routes. Its backbone consist of cycle arterials and cycle ring roads, with additional local cycle tracks in city districts (called cycle connectors). Additionally, there might include additional routes built for local access to companies.

Cycle Ring Roads They connect cycle arterials and are marked as O1 to O10. They create a tangential connection between individual city districts. The first cycle ring road O1 runs around the historic city center and forms the starting point of the most important cycle arterials (R1x).

Cycle Arterials They connect the city center with city districts. They are the most direct, yet safe and smooth route. The most important radials starting at the 1st cycle ring road (O1) are marked as R11 - R19. Other cycle arterials with higher numbers (e.g. R21) indicate the start of the cycle arterial from cycle ring road (O2) depending on the distance from the center.

Cycle Connectors Local cycle tracks in city districts (called cycle connectors) make the cycle network densier. The numbering is based on the nearby cycle ring road and cycle arterial. Its purpose is to create safe local connections between city's main network and local destinations.
