4 Cities Tournament 2025
On June 27-30, 2025, Bratislava will become the venue for an exceptional sporting event – the 4 Cities Tournament, which annually brings together young athletes from Budapest, Ljubljana, Zagreb and Bratislava.
This international tournament, founded in 1995, takes place alternately in individual cities and offers competitions for athletes under 16 from individual partner cities in six sports disciplines: athletics, handball, football, volleyball, basketball and table tennis.
The 28th edition of the tournament is organized by the Department of Sports of the Capital City of the Slovak Republic Bratislava in close cooperation with local sports associations and federations. Together, we are creating space for building a fantastic sports community of the young generation and its sports performances at the international level.
The 4 Cities Tournament is not only a celebration of sport, but also of friendship, fair play and common values that unite the four capitals of Central Europe.

Dear sporting friends, I am pleased to welcome you to the 28th edition of the 4 Cities Tournament, which is taking place this year in our beautiful capital city of Bratislava.
This tournament is a unique opportunity for young athletes under 15 years of age, as well as their coaches and representatives of the partner cities of Ljubljana, Zagreb and Budapest, to meet, compete and share their sporting enthusiasm in our city. Bratislava is a city rich in sporting history and tradition. As early as 1826, the first horse races in the Austro-Hungarian Empire were held in Petržalka, and the Bratislava Rowing Association, the first modern sports club in Slovakia, was also founded. Bratislava has been and still is the organiser of world championships, world cups and international competitions. Our sports community is constantly growing, and today we can be proud of the many successful athletes and clubs who represent Bratislava at both the national and international levels.
The capital city is actively involved in supporting sports and exercise. Here at city hall, we create the conditions needed for the development of sports and a healthy lifestyle for all residents, as well as visitors to our city. We believe that sports are an important tool for building a community, promoting health and developing young talents.
The 4 Cities Tournament is a brilliant example of international cooperation and friendship between our cities. A common passion for sports unites us and allows us to create strong ties that reach beyond borders. This tournament is an opportunity not only for competition, but also for the exchange of experiences and cultural enrichment.
I would like to stress the importance of adhering to the principles of fair play throughout the tournament. Fair play means respecting the rules and respecting opponents as well as sportsmanship. I believe that all participants will compete honestly, with respect, and that they will take from the tournament not only sporting achievements, but also unforgettable experiences and new friendships, too.
Along with the sporting experiences, I also invite you to discover the beauties of Bratislava. Visit the historic Old Town, St. Martin’s Cathedral – once the coronation cathedral of Hungarian kings, Bratislava Castle, the iconic 14th-century St. Michael’s Tower, or other monuments or architectural landmarks of our city. Or simply sit on the embankment and watch a great European river, the Danube, flow past. I believe that you will enjoy not only the sports competitions, but also the atmosphere of our capital city.

Gratitude goes to everyone who took part in organising this exceptional event, to the coaches for their tireless work, and to you, all the athletes, for your determination and enthusiasm. Don’t forget that not only victories, but also defeats move you forward. What is important is that each of you takes as many exploits and valuable experiences, new friendships and great memories as possible with you into your further life.
I wish you all much success, great joy from sports and unforgettable experiences from the 28th year of the 4 Cities Tournament.
